Singing at Harborne Primary School

Harborne Primary School is a singing school! We appreciate the impact of integrating singing into our school culture and see the positive impact on staff and pupils alike, including well-being, social inclusion, confidence, as well as academic attainment. Along side regular singing in assemblies and lessons, we also take every opportunity to sing as part of celebrations such as Harvest and Diwali. We have a dedicated, weekly Singing assembly led by a vocal expert from Services for Education. We also have a free, non-auditioned after-school Choir with opportunities for the children to perform at school and beyond.

Missed Lessons

If your child misses any lessons following trips, Teacher Education Days (TED) or strike days, Music Services have confirmed that music teachers are still on track to deliver the required minimum of 33 lessons across this academic year.

A message from Music Services:

The Music Service keeps a record of teaching weeks and lessons offered. There are 33 teaching weeks across the year and a series of spare weeks available over the course of the academic year. It has always been the case that lessons cannot be made up due to pupil absence or school/ residential trips as the Music Service teachers work with pupils across multiple year groups.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s music teacher.
